OIC is Biggest Organization After UN, OIC Head İhsanoglu

The head of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has said that his organization was the biggest union in the world after the United Nations (UN). A reception was held Friday at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of OIC.
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, State Minister and Deputy Premier Ali Babacan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU Talks Egemen Bagis, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, President Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), high-level officials from OIC-member countries, permanent representatives of UN countries, diplomats and journalists attended the reception.

Speaking to Turkish reporters during the gathering, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that OIC's foundation was one of the major developments in the history of modern Islam.
"OIC has made significant progress in 40 years. It is the biggest organization after the UN. It is the voice of 1.5 billion Muslims. OIC is now taken seriously as it is an organization that expresses the thoughts and feelings of 1.5 billion people," he said.
