Turkey's premier met with a group of Turkish citizens living in the United States on Saturday.
Speaking at the gathering at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel, Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan briefed the participants on his talks in USA.
Pointing to the recent United Nations Security Council meeting, Erdogan said that ways to prevent the dissemination of nuclear weapons were discussed during the gathering.
"We hope the world will be saved from the threats of nuclear weapons. In order to achieve this goal, the top 5 countries, USA, China, Russia, Britain and France should take the prior steps," Erdogan said.
Commenting on Turkey's foreign policy as well, Erdogan said that Turkey had expressed a will to solve its problems with Armenia.
"We are displaying efforts for a solution that will be beneficial for Turkey, but that will not hurt Azerbaijan at the same time. We cannot think of any other option," he said.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, Erdogan said that the Greek Cypriot party did not show the necessary sensitivity on such matter and added, "Turkey will not be the part of a solution that ignores the Turkish Cypriots".
During his speech, Erdogan commented on the democratic move initiative as well.
"We politically know that this is a risky issue," he said, noting that ethnical elements were indicators of richness and everybody should respect each other's ethnical identity.
