IMF Head Says There Is No Tension in Turkey-IMF Relations

The head of International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday that there was no tension in relations between Turkey and the fund.
Speaking at a conference at Istanbul's Bilgi University, IMF's Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said that IMF had a very strict image in the past, however, the fund tried to change its policies and be more flexible nowadays.
Commenting on the recent G-20 meeting in Pittsburgh, Strauss-Kahn said it was a pleasing development that leaders had decided to work together.
Straus-Kahn said a new era was about to start, during which global economy would be governed at a global level and local solutions would not be offered for global problems.
During the conference, Strauss-Kahn replied to questions on relations between IMF and Turkey as well.
"If the Turkish government believes it would be useful, an agreement could be signed," Strauss-Kahn said.
"We will continue to hold talks with Turkey and we will see what is needed. We are in no hurry," he added.
